ADPG Performance Solutions - Automotive Performance and Lubricants

Automotive performance and lubricants

AD & PG provides a wide range of performance chemicals including formulations of industrial lubricants, polyalkylene glycols, esters, emulsifiers for metalworking fluids, engine coolants, brake fluids, low molecular weight medium and high molar mass polyisobutene ( PIB), synthetic lubricants.

We are committed to shaping a sustainable future. For us, sustainable development means combining long-term economic success with environmental protection and social responsibility. Not only do we share this understanding, but we further refine this approach to our business and markets we serve. Because we are close to our markets, we understand that in addition to reducing costs, environmental aspects such as reduction of emissions and waste or efficient management of resources and energy are vital for sustainability.

AD & PG aims to provide our markets with performance solutions with ultra-high-tech sustainable products combined with a technical team to support and apply products or packages.

Lubricant Additives

The composition of Lubricants depend on the application and on the specific performance requirements they have to meet. As mentioned under Effects, different additive performance classes ensure that the fully formulated lubricants meet requirements, both when freshly prepared but also during its expected life in use (‘stay in grade requirement’).

The tables below provide an overview as to which lubricant applications employ additives.

Applications

Machines with moving parts require lubricants for proper operation. Applications vary widely, ranging from micro-robotics to large cutting machines in the mining industry. Each specific application requires special properties from the lubricant, which are imparted through the use of additives.

The largest and most common lubricant application comprises engine oils, which are used in cars, trucks, planes and ships. These products are uniquely formulated to withstand exposure to the combustion of fuels.

Engine oils containing the proper additive combination will function properly for a long period of time.

In addition to engine oils, vehicles require other types of lubricants such as power transmission fluids, brake fluids, engine coolants, and greases. These lubricants are all categorized as transportation lubricants.

‘Industrial lubricants’, comprise such products as turbine oils, compressor oils and hydraulic fluids, which are used most extensively in manufacturing, farming, mining and construction equipment.

Metalworking fluids are a special class within the industrial lubricants. Since workers are often exposed to these fluids, it is critical that they are formulated to meet health and safety standards.
